Jennifer Paige (born on September 3, 1973 in Marietta, Georgia) is a female pop singer who is considered to be one of the 90’s biggest one-hit wonder singers. Jennifer started singing with her older brother, Chance Scoggins when she was only 5 years old at local coffeehouses and restaurants.

Jennifer attended performing arts school Pebblebrook High School to study voice, dance, and drama. When she was 17 years old, Jennifer toured the country with a Top 40 cover band called Vivid Image and she eventually moved to Los Angeles.

In August of 1996, Jennifer performed in Atlanta in front of 50,000 people at the Olympic Games with a cover band called Joe’s Band. During that same year, she teamed up with producer Andy Goldmark and together, they made a dance cover single of Aretha Franklin’s classic hit song, “Chain of Fools.”

The song caught the attention of indie record label, Edel Records’ president, Jonathan First, who was looking for a fresh-faced pop act to establish an overseas presense. He was so impressed with Jennifer’s singing that he flew to Los Angeles and gave her a record deal.

After Jennifer recorded the song, “Crush,” Andy Goldmark took a copy of the single to radio station KIIS-FM. During the first week in May of 1998, KIIS-FM was the first radio station to play “Crush.” The song sold 20,000 copies quickly and became the most requested song on KIIS-FM. During the next few weeks, “Crush” was added to the daily rotation of other major radio stations. In early June of 1998, Jennifer signed to Hollywood Records.

“Crush” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard’s Top 40 Mainstream chart, #23 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, #19 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart, and #7 on Billboard’s Top 40 Tracks chart. Internationally, the song was successful, especially in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, where it topped the charts. In the United States, the song was certified Gold, Platinum in Australia, and Silver in the UK & France.

In August of 1998, Jennifer released her self-titled debut album which peaked at #139 on the Billboard 200. Internationally, the album peaked at #67 on the UK Albums chart, #44 on the Australian ARIA Albums chart, #40 on the Swiss Albums chart, and #73 on the Dutch Albums chart.

The second single from the album, “Sober” failed to make much impact in the United States as “Crush” did, but it managed to chart in the UK at #68 on the UK Singles chart. It also moderately charted in Australia and New Zealand.

The last single, “Always You” managed to peak at #6 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart. In 2000, Jennifer recorded the song “Beautiful” for the “Autumn in New York” movie soundtrack. Jennifer toured all over the world, sang for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, and was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the World Music Awards where she also performed at.

In 2001, Jennifer released her second album, “Positively Somewhere” which didn’t appear to chart at all on the Billboard 200. The album wasn’t noticed until its European and Asian album release in the summer of 2002 due to bad timing and lack of promotion from her American record label.

Jennifer released a cover version of Australian pop group Bardot’s hit song, “These Days” which managed to peak at #34 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart. It’s unknown how or if the single charted internationally.

Jennifer’s second single from the album was a cover version of singer Plumb’s song, “Stranded.” The song received massive airplay in Europe, mostly in Germany where it reached Top 10 positions on airplay charts. The song managed to peak at #79 on the UK Singles Chart and #83 on the Dutch Single Top 100 chart. It was also popular in Japan and Italy.

In 2003, Jennifer released a compliation album “Flowers: The Jennifer Paige Hits Collection” as a result of leaving her record label. In October of that same year, Jennifer stated that she was no longer signed to Hollywood Records. She continued writing songs for other artists and compiling songs for a new studio effort.

In 2008, Jennifer’s third album, “Best Kept Secret” was released in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The first single from the album, “Wasted” was successful in Italy. Jennifer released two more singles from the album, “Underestimated” and “Ta Voix (The Calling)” featuring French singer, Lââm.

In November 2009, “Best Kept Secret” was re-released as a deluxe version and featured a new single, “Beautiful Lie” with former Backstreet Boys member, Nick Carter and a new version of “Crush” remixed by DJ Kore sung in French.

In 2010, Jennifer announced she formed a band called “The Fury” with singer Coury Palmero. Their debut single, “Silent Night” was released on iTunes in November of that same year. Another single, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was released in November 2011.
