Solé (born Tonya M. Lumpkin on July 17, 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri) is a female rapper who got her career started during the 90’s. Before her music career, Solé worked at various jobs such as AT&T and as a spa coordinator for a salon.

During the summer of 1999, Solé was featured on rapper J.T. Money’s single, “Who Dat” which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, topped Billboard’s Rap Singles chart, and #2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart in May of 1999, staying on the chart for 25 weeks. Solé was featured other artists’ albums such as Terry Dexter, Before Dark, Kane & Able, and Tech N9ne.

In the fall of 1999, Solé released her debut album, “Skin Deep” which peaked at #127 on the Billboard 200, #27 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart, and topped Billboard’s Heatseekers albums chart.

The lead single from the album, “4,5,6” featuring J.T. Money and R&B singer Kandi Burruss, peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100, #24 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 chart, topped Billboard’s Rap Singles chart, and #9 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart in November of 1999, staying on the chart for 20 weeks.

The follow-up single, “It Wasn’t Me” featuring R&B singer Ginuwine, missed the Billboard Hot 100, but managed to peak at #19 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 chart and #44 on Billboard’s Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart in May of 2000, staying on the chart for 12 weeks.

In 2000, Solé became engaged to Ginuwine and in 2001, she gave birth to their first daughter together named Story. In November 2002, their second daughter, Dream was born. (Solé has two daughters from a previous relationship, De’jan and Cypress while Ginuwine has a son, Elgin from a previous relationship as well). In 2003, Solé and Ginuwine got married.

After the release of her solo album, Solé focused on her family, stepping aside from the music biz, but in October 2010, she announced that she was working on new music.
