imageJene (not to be confused with R&B singer Jhene Aiko) was a pop\R&B singer from the 2000s. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Jene began singing in church as a young child. After her family relocated to Florida, she decided to pursue a professional music career.

While in Florida, Jene met Ryan Glover (the co-CEO of Noontime Recordings) and after auditioning for Motown Records, she was signed to the label.

imageIn 2002, she released her debut single “Get Into Something” which managed to peak at #39 on Billboard’s Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the movie “The Hot Chick.”

imageDuring that same year, Jene’s debut album “Jene’s Reign” was scheduled to be released, but from what I could look up, the album didn’t have an official release.

Due to videos of Jene’s songs on YouTube, it’s possible the album could’ve been released promotionally (but I’m not 100% sure). image

imageJene’s follow-up singles “Phenomenal Woman (Jene’s Reign)” (featuring rapper Loon) & “I Will Remember Your Smile” didn’t appear to chart at all and after that, Jene faded out of sight and into obscurity. It’s unknown what she’s up to these days.
