As a child, Kaci began singing in church & beauty pageants. She even won the title of “Little Miss Texas Grand Talent” at the age of 10. She would spend every weekend performing at oprys & venues in Texas.
Kaci’s mom began calling music publishers in Nashville, Tennessee to find original material for her which led to Kaci heading off to Nashville to record a six-song country music demo.
After that, Kaci & her family moved to Nashville when she was 12 years old. At the age of 13, she landed a publishing deal with Barbara Orbison’s Still Working Music where she collaborated with country music songwriters such as Tommy Lee James.
When Kaci began looking for a record deal as a country music artist, she was told by A&R executives that her voice sounded “too pop.” After taking some time off, Kaci began focusing on pop music & writing her own songs.
In 2003, she met songwriter\producer Toby Gad who was in Nashville working on other projects. In 2004, Kaci spent most of the year writing & recording songs with him. She later recorded an 11-song CD demo & looked for another record deal.
In the fall of that same year, Kaci met & auditioned for various record labels & eventually signed a deal with Interscope Records.
In August of 2005, she released her debut album “Instigator” which managed to peak at #13 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers albums chart.
Her debut single “Unbelievable” peaked at #27 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart. It was also successful on Radio Disney.
The follow-up single, the title song peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart and #12 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Singles Sales chart.
Kaci was the opening act on the U.S. & Canada leg of the Backstreet Boys’ “Never Gone” tour. She was also on “The First Look Tour” featuring artists Marcos Hernandez & Fatty Koo.
Kaci has written songs for artists such as Pixie Lott, Greyson Chance, Sandra, Queensberry & G.E.M.
She also provided vocals on Pixie Lott’s 2009 debut album “Turn It Up” on the track “Nothing Compares” and was credited on Greyson Chance’s debut album “Hold On ‘Til the Night” as a producer on three tracks.
In 2012, Kaci released the song “Back in Time” and it was featured on the Lifetime Network reality series “Dance Moms.” During that same year, she married Beau Dozier (the son of songwriter Lamont Dozier) and gave birth to a daughter named Dawson.
