Haysi FantayzeeHaysi Fantayzee was a British new wave\pop band that consisted of singers Jeremy Healy (born Jeremiah Healy on January 18, 1962 in Woolwich, South London, England) & Kate Garner (born Kathryn Mary Garner on July 9, 1954 in Wigan, Lancashire, England) and keyboardist Paul Caplin (born on December 31, 1954 from London, England).

The band was formed in 1981 and originally, Kate Garner was supposed to sing solo although the group never performed live. Instead of sending a demo tape to the record companies, Haysi Fantayzee made & sent a crude video performance.
john wayne big leggyIn 1982, the band released their debut single “John Wayne is Big Leggy” which was quite controversial due to its taboo subject about anal sex. Despite that, the song wasn’t banned from being broadcast by the BBC and Hayzee Fantayzee performed it twice on “Top of the Pops” & also on Saturday morning children’s TV.

The song peaked at #11 on the U.K. Singles chart, #3 in Germany and #13 in Austria.
holy joeHazyee Fantayzee’s follow-up single “Holy Joe” peaked at #51 on the U.K. Singles chart.
battle hymnsIn 1983, the band released their debut (and only) album “Battle Hymns for Children Singing” which peaked at #53 on the U.K. Albums chart.
shiny shinyThe third single from the album “Shiny Shiny” peaked at #16 on the U.K. Singles chart, but also managed to peak at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States (making it their only chart appearance to date). It also managed to chart in Germany and New Zealand.

The fourth single from the album “Sister Friction” peaked at #62 on the U.K. Singles chart. A promotional single “Chizoola” was released, but didn’t chart. After that, Haysi Fantayzee disbanded.

In 1984, Jeremy Healy released a solo single called “When Malindy Sings.” These days, he works as a DJ.

Kate Garner appeared in the music video for the Eurythmics’ song “Who’s That Girl” and pursued a brief solo career. She later went on to pursue a career in photography in Los Angeles, California.

These days, Kate appears to still be active in art & photography and occasionally performs live acoustic music with her husband, Emit Bloch with whom she lives with in San Francisco, California and London. The couple also has one daughter.

After the band broke up, Paul Caplin launched his own record label called The Love Organization. He has also been involved in the computer hardware & software industries and also in film production. In 1994, he was the executive producer of “Pavarotti in Confidence” with Peter Ustinov for the BBC.

In 2000, Paul founded the software company Caplin Systems Ltd. and served as the company’s chief executive and chairman until 2015 when it was acquired by Ion Capital Management.

These days, he is married to singer Zeeteah Massiah and together, they have released two albums.
