pruPru (born Prudence Renfro on July 14, 1970 in Houston, Texas) is a female R&B singer from the 2000s.

Raised in the South Park section of Houston, Pru’s mother encouraged her creativity and occasionally brought Pru to the nightclub she worked at as a bartender where Pru performed between acts.

Pru later attended a performing arts high school and attended college at Texas Southern University. She worked in bars & nightclubs, hoping to network with someone from the music business. After she was signed by Warner\Chappell Music Publishing as a songwriter, Pru attracted the attention of Roy Lott from Capitol Records, who was not only impressed with her songwriting skills, but her singing voice as well.
pru-albumPru was later signed to Capitol Records and in November of 2000, she released her self-titled debut album which peaked at #176 on the Billboard 200 and #38 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
candlesHer debut single “Candles” peaked at #68 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart (staying on the chart for 14 weeks) and #65 on Billboard’s R&B\Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
aaromaThe follow-up single from the album “Aaroma” didn’t appear to make a lot of impact on the charts.

After that, not much was heard from Pru and it appeared as if she faded into obscurity. It’s currently unknown if she plans on releasing any new music any time soon.
