Backstreet Raiders

backstreet raidersBackstreet Raiders were a dance/electronic music trio from the ’80s. Not much information is given about them, but it seems as if the trio consisted of two male artists & one female artist.

In 1988, they released their only single, “One Track Mind” on the Achievement Records label in the United States and the Blue Moon record label in the United Kingdom. It’s unknown how or if the single made any impact on the charts.

After that, it seems as if Backstreet Raiders have faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since the ’80s.

Jeanne PruettJeanne Pruett (born Norma Jean Bowman on January 30, 1937 in Pell City, Alabama) is a country music singer from the ’70s.

At a young age, Jeanne enjoyed listening to the Grand Ole Opry and also harmonized with her brothers and sisters. She began singing in high school and later married her husband, Jack Pruett, who was a guitarist.

In 1956, Jeanne and Jack moved to Nashville, Tennessee. While raising her family, Jeanne began writing her own songs and she eventually became a secretary at Marty Robbins’ publishing company.

In the ’60s and early ’70s, Jeanne recorded various singles for RCA Records and Decca Records, but none of them generated much success.
Jeanne Pruett ‎– Love MeIn 1972, she released her debut album, “Love Me” which failed to make any impact on the album charts.

However, the four singles released from the album: “Hold On to My Unchanging Love” (which peaked at #66), the title track (which peaked at #34), “Call on Me” (which peaked at #64) and “I Forgot More Than You’ll Ever Know (About Him”) (which peaked at #60) were moderately successful on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart.

In February of 1973, Jeanne released the single, “Satin Sheets” which became her biggest hit song to date, topping Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart for three weeks (staying on the chart for 18 weeks).

It also crossed over to the pop charts where it peaked at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Jeanne’s only appearance on the Hot 100 to date. Due to the success of “Satin Sheets,” Jeanne was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry.
Jeanne Pruett ‎– Satin SheetsIn June of that same year, Jeanne released her second album, “Satin Sheets” which peaked at #122 on the Billboard 200 and topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Jeanne Pruett ‎– Jeanne PruettIn 1974, she released her self-titled third album which peaked at #19 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

The lead single from the album, “I’m Your Woman” peaked at #8 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart. The follow-up single, “You Don’t Need to Move a Mountain” peaked at #15 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart.
Jeanne Pruett ‎– Honey On His HandsIn 1975, Jeanne released her fourth album, “Honey on His Hands” which peaked at #48 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

The singles released from the album, “Welcome to the Sunshine (Sweet Baby Jane)” (which peaked at #22), “Just Like Your Daddy” (which peaked at #25), the title track (which peaked at #41) and “A Poor Man’s Woman” (which peaked at #24) were moderately successful on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart.

Around that time, Jeanne’s success started to fade away. Although she continued to released singles such as “My Baby’s Gone,” “I’ve Taken,” “She’s Still All Over You” and “I’m Livin’ a Lie,” neither of them made the Top 40 on the country music charts.
Encore !In 1978, Jeanne released her fifth album, “Encore!” on the IBC Records label, which peaked at #18 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

The lead single from the album, “Please Sing Satin Sheets for Me” (which was a quasi-sequel to her 1973 hit, “Satin Sheets”) peaked at #54 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.

However, the follow-up single, “Back to Back” fared better, peaking at #8 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, staying on the chart for 16 weeks. The last single from the album, “Temporarily Yours” fared even better, peaking at #5 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, staying on the chart for 15 weeks.

In 1980, Jeanne released the single, “It’s Too Late” which peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, staying on the chart for 14 weeks.

Around the time of her regained success, Jeanne made a few appearances with Bill Anderson on the ABC network soap opera, “One Life to Live” as part of a country music storyline.

During the early ’80s, Jeanne continued to release singles such as “Sad Old Gray of Shade”, “I Ought to Feel Guilty” and “Love Me” (featuring Marty Robbins) which were moderately successful on the country music charts.
Jeanne Pruett1985In 1985, Jeanne released her self-titled and last album to date on the MCA/Dot Records label which failed to chart at all. Her last charting single to date was “Rented Room” which peaked at #81 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart.

Later on, Jeanne began hosting a cooking show on the TNN network and made a series of cookbooks under the title “Feedin’ Friends.” She also won prizes for her cooking and gardening skills that were featured in her cookbooks. She also owned a restaurant at the now defunct Opryland Theme Park in Nashville, Tennessee called Feedin’ Friends.

According to research, Jeanne currently resides on a farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Eddy Fulton.

In 2006, it was announced that she would be retiring from the Grand Ole Opry and from performing, but she remained active in the music business with behind the scenes work such as publishing.
