Thunderbugs

Thunderbugs were a British pop girl group that consisted of lead singer Jane Vaughn, backing vocalist\bass player Stef Maillard, backing vocalist\drummer Nicky Shaw and guitarist Brigitta Jansen.
In 1999, they released their debut single, “Friends Forever” which peaked at #5 on the U.K. Singles chart, becoming their only highest charting song to date. The song was also featured on the soundtrack to the film “Center Stage.”
The group’s follow-up single, “It’s About Time You Were Mine” didn’t match the same success as their debut single, peaking at #43 on the U.K. Singles chart.
After the group’s follow-up single flopped, their debut album, “Delicious” ended up getting postponed at first, but it was eventually released in Europe and the U.K. (which was released on mini-disc) in 2000.

After that, it seemed as if Thunderbugs faded into obscurity. Nicky Shaw went on to work on writing & programming songs and working with artists such as BB King, Eric Clapton, Lulu, Michael McDonald, Lara Fabian and Taylor Hicks. She also composed tracks for the film “Rag Tale.”

As for Jane Vaughan, Stef Maillard and Brigitta Jansen, it seems as if they have faded into obscurity. It’s unknown what each of them are up to these days.

Madasun

Madasun was a female pop music trio from the 2000s that consisted of members Vicky Barrett (born Victoria Barrett on February 12, 1976 in Hertfordshire, England), Abby Norman (born Abigal Norman on April 13, 1977) and Vonda Barnes (born on January 20, 1978 in Hertfordshire, England). The band got their name during the August 11, 1999 eclipse.
In February of 2000, they released their debut single “Don’t You Worry” which peaked at #14 on the U.K. Singles chart and #6 on the ARIA Singles chart in Australia (which was also certified Platinum). In the U.K., it also received considerable airplay thanks to a selection of U.K. garage mixes.
In May of that same year, Madasun released their follow-up single “Walking on Water” which peaked at #14 on the U.K. Singles chart, but didn’t appear to chart in Australia.
In August of 2000, they released their third single “Feel Good” which peaked at #29 on the U.K. Singles chart and #45 on the ARIA charts in Australia.
In September of that same year, Madasun released their only album “The Way It Is”. It’s unknown how or if the album made the charts at all.

Despite touring with bands such as Five, Westlife, Boyzone and Steps, Madasun were dropped from their record label in January of 2001 due to low sales and ended up disbanding.

These days, it’s unknown what the members of Madasun are up to these days and have seemingly faded into obscurity.

Mytown

Mytown was a pop music boy band from Ireland that consisted of members Danny O’Donoghue (born Daniel John Mark Luke O’Donoghue on October 3, 1979 in Dublin, Ireland), Mark Sheehan, Terry Daly and Paul Walker.

The band was first established in 1996 after original member Tony Dunne quit a successful boxing career. Tony was friends with Louis Walsh put him in touch with Paul Walker and after a couple of meetings, Tony & Paul recruited Mark Sheehan (who was teaching hip-hop dancing at a performing arts school in Dublin at the time) and Mark introduced his friend, Terry Daly, who would also join the band as well

After touring around England and Ireland, Mytown played in a showcase at the Mobius TV studios which was owned by a friend of Mark’s, Eamonn Maguire, who would become the band’s manager.

After performing at a showcase in Las Vegas, Tony departed from the band and was replaced by Danny O’Donoghue and the band later signed a recording contract with Universal Records. In 1997, Mytown released their debut single “Do It Like This” which was released in Ireland. It’s unknown how or if the single charted there.
In 1999, they released their follow-up single “Party All Night” which managed to peak at #22 on the U.K. Singles chart.

Mytown’s follow-up singles “Now That I Found You” (a cover version of country singer Terri Clark’s song, which was released in the United States) and “Party All Night” (which was released worldwide) didn’t generate a lot of success.
In May of 2000, the band’s debut album was released only in Australia and the United States. It was supposed to receive a worldwide release, but due to internal issues within Universal Records, those plans never materialized.

By 2001, MyTown were released from their record contract after Cherry Entertainment was dropped as a label by Universal Records and the members of the band went on to pursue separate careers.

After MyTown disbanded, Mark Sheehan and Danny O’Donoghue went on to form pop rock band, The Script and since then, the band has released four albums which managed to top the album charts in Ireland and the United Kingdom and also gained success in the United States.

As for Terry Daly and Paul Walker, it’s unknown what they are up to these days or if they’re still active in the music business.

St. Juste

St. Juste was a female hip-hop artist from the 2000s. Not much information is given about her, but she was signed to Columbia Records in 2003.
In 2004, she released the single “5 Dollars.” It’s unknown how or if the single made any impact on the charts.

According to Last.fm, St. Juste was supposed to release her debut album “The Confession Booth” (which was described as “genre-bending”), but it ended up getting shelved due to the label massively reconstructing itself.

These days, it’s unknown what St. Juste is up to these days and it appears as if she has faded into obscurity.

ATL

ATL were a teenage R&B group from Atlanta, Georgia that consisted of members Tre’Kas “Tre” Simms (who was 19 years old at the time), Marvin “Will” Williams, Jr. (who was 18 years old at the time), Cory “Danger” Griffin (who was 19 years old at the time) and Lawrence “L-Rock” Gibbs IV (who was only 16 years old at the time).  The group was formed through a talent search in the Atlanta area & got R. Kelly to produce their debut single.
In 2003, they released their debut single “Calling All Girls” which peaked at #48 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, staying on the chart for 9 weeks. In the U.K., the song peaked at #12 on the U.K. Singles chart, making it their only highest chart appearance to date.
A year later in 2004, ATL released their follow-up single “Make it Up With Love” which peaked at #21 on the U.K. Singles chart and #51 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
In May of that same year, the group released their only album “The ATL Project” which peaked at #76 on the U.K. Albums chart, but failed to chart at all in the United States.

By 2005, ATL disbanded and according to research, they were reportedly working on individual projects, but it’s unknown what they are or what the members of the group are currently up to these days.

Pru

Pru (born Prudence Renfro on July 14, 1970 in Houston, Texas) is a female R&B singer from the 2000s.

Raised in the South Park section of Houston, Pru’s mother encouraged her creativity and occasionally brought Pru to the nightclub she worked at as a bartender where Pru performed between acts.

Pru later attended a performing arts high school and attended college at Texas Southern University. She worked in bars & nightclubs, hoping to network with someone from the music business. After she was signed by Warner\Chappell Music Publishing as a songwriter, Pru attracted the attention of Roy Lott from Capitol Records, who was not only impressed with her songwriting skills, but her singing voice as well.
Pru was later signed to Capitol Records and in November of 2000, she released her self-titled debut album which peaked at #176 on the Billboard 200 and #38 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
Her debut single “Candles” peaked at #68 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart (staying on the chart for 14 weeks) and #65 on Billboard’s R&B\Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
The follow-up single from the album “Aaroma” didn’t appear to make a lot of impact on the charts.

After that, not much was heard from Pru and it appeared as if she faded into obscurity. It’s currently unknown if she plans on releasing any new music any time soon.

Prophet Jones

Prophet Jones was an hip-hop\R&B group from Washington, D.C. that consisted of Patrick “P” Rowe, Kevin “K.D.” Jackson, Tony “Hollywood” Dumas and Jerome “Goldee” Lattisaw (who is also known as the brother of R&B singer Stacy Lattisaw). Both Tony and Jerome were members of the short-lived ’90s R&B group, Me-2-U.

After Tony and Jerome hooked up with music producer Kevin Jackson, they saved up enough money to record a 7-song demo which was sent to several record companies. Haaq Islam (the president & CEO of the University Records label) was looking for an R&B quartet to sign to the record label and invited Jerome & Tony to come to New York.

When they arrived in New York, the record company was expecting a quartet because of the way Tony & Jerome sang. Later on, Kevin and Patrick were added to the group, making it a quartet.
In 2001, the group released their only self-titled album which peaked at #86 on the Billboard 200 and #16 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
The lead single from the album “Cry Together” peaked at #54 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart (staying on the chart for 16 weeks) and #50 on Billboard’s R&B\Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Prophet Jones gained exposure by opening up in shows for artists such as Mya, Eve, Sisqo and Ruff Ryders.

The two follow-up singles from the album “Woof” & “Lifetime” failed to make any impact on the charts and the group later disbanded.

These days, Patrick Rowe is pursuing a solo career and is the owner of his own apparel design business, Smook. It’s unknown what Tony, Kevin and Jerome are up to these days and it appears as if they’ve faded into obscurity.

3rd Storee

3rd Storee was a male R&B group from the late ’90s\early 2000s from Los Angeles, California that originally consisted of Kevonte (born Kevonte Jackson on February 6, 1983), Lil’ Man (born Kenneth Pratt on June 16, 1986), D’Smoove (born Dante Clark on February 10, 1983) and Jay-R (born Barry Reed Jr. on December 17, 1983).

The group was formed in 1997 in South Central, Los Angeles, California, starting out as a quartet. They immediately made a breakthrough when they were signed to Yab Yum Records and went on tour with Britney Spears.
In 1998, 3rd Storee were invited to open up for *NSYNC on their U.S. tour. During that same year, they released their debut single “If Ever” which peaked at #53 on the U.K. Singles chart, #64 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart and #36 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Songs chart.
Their next single “Party Tonight” peaked at #63 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart. The group’s debut album was supposed to be released in 1999, but possibly due to the low performances of the two singles, it ended up getting shelved.

By the 2000s, Lil’ Man left 3rd Storee due to creative differences and two new members joined the group: Gavyn (born Gavin Rhone) and J’Son (born Jason Tyrel Thomas on May 14, 1980). Before 3rd Storee, J’Son had a solo career in the mid-’90s, scoring moderate hits on the Billboard Hot 100 such as “I’ll Never Stop Loving You” and “Take a Look.”
During that time, 3rd Storee had left their previous record label and signed with Universal Records. In 2002, they released their debut album “Get With Me” which peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 and #13 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
The title song (featuring rapper Joe Budden on the remix version) peaked at #85 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. It was the only single released from the album.
In 2005, 3rd Storee signed a record deal with J Records and changed their name to Chapter 4. By that time, Kevonte left the group to focus on acting, leaving the group as a quartet again. They released a single called “Fool Wit U” in 2006, but it failed to generate any success and after leaving J. Records, the group disbanded.

These days, Kevontay Jackson is still active in acting and even had a recurring role on the UPN\CW series “Everybody Hates Chris” along with working as a songwriter & MC.

Jay-R appears to still be active in the music business as a singer and producer. As of 2015, he was working on new music (according to his Twitter).

Gavyn Rhone is still active in the music business and has also appeared in television & films.

Since leaving 3rd Storee, Lil’ Man (now called K-Young) has gone on to write songs for artists such as Cassie, B2K, Diddy, Ray J, Chris Brown, Yolanda Adams, The Game, Lloyd and Brandy. He also owns his own imprint label, Magic Ink Entertainment.

It’s unknown what J’Son and D’Smoove are up to these days and it appears as if they’ve faded into obscurity.

Society of Soul

Society of Soul were a five-member R&B group from Atlanta, Georgia that consisted of members Sleepy Brown (born Patrick Brown on January 24, 1970 in Savannah, Georgia), Rico Wade, Ray Murray, Espraronza (born Espraronza Griffin from Port Royal, South Carolina) and Big Rube (born Ruben Bailey in 1971 from Atlanta, Georgia).

Three of the group’s members: Sleepy, Rico & Wade are part of Organized Noise, a hip-hop production company based in Atlanta, Georgia that has been active in the music business since 1992. Together, they have worked songs such as En Vogue’s song “Don’t Let Go (Love),” Ludacris’ song “Saturday (Oooh Ooohh)” and TLC’s number-one smash hit “Waterfalls.”
In 1995, the group released their debut album “Brainchild” on LaFace Records. It’s unknown how or if the album made the charts at all.
The lead single from the album “Pushin'” didn’t appear to make the Billboard charts at all.
The follow-up single “E.M.B.R.A.C.E. (Da Da Dah Dah)” peaked at #71 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 4 weeks. After that, nothing much was heard from the Society of Soul and it seemed as if the group disbanded.

These days, Sleepy, Rico & Wade continue to work together as Organized Noise, working with artists such as Goodie Mob & Outkast.

Big Rube has made appearances on various artists’ albums such as Big Boi, Goodie Mob, Age Against the Machine, Lina and Future.

In 1998, Espraronza released a solo single called “They Don’t Understand” which didn’t appear to chart. These days, it’s unknown what she is up to these days.

The Tony Rich Project

The Tony Rich Project (born Antonio Jeffries Jr. on November 19, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan) is an R&B singer who first achieved success during the ’90s.

Tony first attracted attention through the production team of Tim & Bob who convinced Perri Reid (also known as R&B singer Pebbles, who was then the wife of L.A. Reid) to listen to Tony over the phone.

He was later hired as a house songwriter for LaFace Records, writing songs for artists such as Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men & TLC and was later signed to the record label as a solo artist.
In January of 1996, Tony released his debut single “Nobody Knows” (under the name “The Tony Rich Project”) which became a hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and #11 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart.

It also peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart, #7 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart and topped Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 chart. The song was later covered by country music artist Kevin Sharp.
During that same year, he released his debut album “Words” which peaked at #31 on the Billboard 200 and #18 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart. It also managed to chart at #27 on the U.K. Albums chart.

Tony’s debut album and single were both certified Platinum and in 1996, he won a Grammy Award for “Best R&B Album.”
The follow-up single from the album “Like a Woman” peaked at #41 on the Billboard Hot 100, #42 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, #30 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, #28 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart and #24 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 chart. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award.
The last single released from the album “Leavin'” peaked at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #53 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Tracks chart.
In 1998, Tony released his sophomore album “Birdseye.” Even though the album was critically praised, it failed to chart on the Billboard 200 and managed to peak at #66 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
The only single released from the album “Silly Man” failed to chart at all. During that same year, Tony commissioned a few remixes for the Spice Girls’ song “Viva Forever.”
After the release of his second album, Tony Rich appeared to have faded into obscurity, but in 2003, he returned to the music scene with his third album “The Resurrected” which featured Rich playing guitar & singing smooth ballads.
In 2006, Tony released his fourth album “Pictures” which was considered a return to his earlier works. It’s unknown how or if the album charted at all.
In 2008, he released his fifth album “Exist” on the Hidden Beach Recordings record label which peaked at #31 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart and featured the download-only single “Part the Waves.”
In 2013, Tony released his latest album to date “Speak Me” which features the singles “Breaking Glass” and “Fade Away.” As of 2017, it’s currently unknown whether or not Tony plans on releasing new music any time soon.
