Drea

dreaDrea (born Andrea Rachelle Albert in Kansas City, Missouri) was a female R&B singer from the 90’s.

Drea began her music career in 1997 when her a capella performance won a local talent show. While she was there, she met a talent scout who introduced her to music producer Kenny “Smoove” Kornegay  and he signed her to his record label, Spoiled Rotten Music.

In 1998, she released her one and only debut album “A Dream Come True” when she was 17 years old. It’s unknown how or if the album charted.gotyabackThe first single from the album “Got Ya Back” (featuring rapper Black Rob) peaked at #53 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 11 weeks.
bodyrockThe follow-up single “Body Rock” didn’t appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts. After that, it seemed as if Drea had faded into obscurity. It’s unknown what she’s up to these days.

Jasmin

Jasmin (born Jasmin Desvarieux) is a pop\dance singer from the ’80s. Not much information is given about her, but she was signed to the TVI Records & Filmworks record label.
In 1984, she released her debut single, “Get Up And Dance” which peaked at #50 on Billboard’s Hot Dance\Disco Top 80 chart, staying on the chart for 4 weeks.
During that same year, she released her only album, “Get Up and Dance” which didn’t appear to make the album charts at all.
Jasmin’s follow-up singles: “Let’s Get Away” and “Stop (Before You Break My Heart)” failed to make the charts. After that, it seems as if she has faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from her since the ’80s.

Quindon Tarver

Quindon Tarver (born on August 2, 1982 in Plano, Texas) is an R&B singer from the 90’s. He studied at the Quad C Theatre program at Collin College.

He was discovered by director Baz Luhrman and even appeared in Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” music video as a member of the church choir. After completing the Quad C Theatre program, Quindon worked with Chris Stokes. In 1996, Quindon appeared in the movie, “Romeo & Juliet” as a choir boy and contributed two songs to the movie’s soundtrack: a cover version of Rozalla’s “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” and a cover of Prince’s hit song, “When Doves Cry.” During that same year, Quindon released his debut album on Virgin Records. It’s unknown how or if the album ever charted. itsyouthatsonmymindHis first single “It’s You That’s On My Mind” peaked at #35 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 14 weeks.

The follow-up single “Dream About You” peaked at #69 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 6 weeks.

In 1999, Quindon’s vocals from “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” was featured in the chorus of Baz Luhrman’s song, “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen).”

Quindon auditioned for the 7th season of “American Idol,” but was eliminated in the Hollywood rounds.

In 2008, he made allegations that Chris Stokes molested him. These days, Quindon has his own YouTube page and is currently studying law.

Times Two

Times Two was a male dance-pop duo from the ’80s that consisted of singer\keyboardists Shanti Jones and Johnny Dollar from Point Reyes, California.
In 1988, the duo released their debut studio album, “X2” on Reprise Records which peaked at #137 on the Billboard 200.
The lead single from the album, “Strange But True” peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their highest charting single to date. It also peaked at #12 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
The follow-up single, a cover version of Simon & Garfunkel’s 1970 song, “Cecilia” peaked at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100. During that same year, Times Two were signed by pop singer Debbie Gibson’s manager to be the opening act for her “Out of the Blue” tour.
In 1990, they released the EP, “Danger is My Business” on EMI Records. It was supposed to serve as a teaser for their sophomore album, “Hi-Fi & Mighty”, but due to issues with the duo’s management, the album was shelved.
The only single released from the EP, “Set Me Free” peaked at #26 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play Singles chart, staying on the chart for 5 weeks. By 1991, Times Two disbanded.

These days, Johnny Dollar now goes under the name Giovanni De Morente and performs with a band called El Radio Fantastique. In the 2000s, Shanti Jones fronted a band called Sex & Reverb, but it’s currently unknown what he’s up to these days.

Kid Flash

Kid Flash was a male hip-hop rapper from the late 80’s. Not much information is given about him, but he was signed to Tabu Records.

In 1988, Kid Flash released his only album, “He’s in Effect” on Tabu Records. It’s unknown how or if the album ever charted. 

He released his first single, “Hot Like Fire.” It’s unknown how it charted, but a music video was made for the song. 

The follow-up singles: “Mind Your Business” and “Love Thing” were released, but also didn’t chart. After that, it seemed as if Kid Flash had flashed into obscurity.

Leotis

leotisLeotis (born Leotis Clyburn in Brooklyn, New York) is a male R&B singer from the 80’s. In the ’80s, he provided vocals on albums by artists such as Tom Brown & Miki Howard.

In 1989, he released his debut album “On A Mission” on Mercury Records. The album peaked at #96 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.

The title song peaked at #33 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 11 weeks. oohchildThe follow-up single “Ooh Child” peaked at #70 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.Another single “Who Loves You Better” was released, but didn’t make the Billboard charts at all.

During the ’90s, Leotis provided vocals on albums by artists such as Tanya Blout, Ten City and the O’Jays before seemingly fading into obscurity, but he worked for EMI Music Publishing before being reportedly laid off in 2012.

Twin Image

Twin Image was a female R&B\funk duo from the 80’s. Not much information is given about them, but they only released one album and two singles.

In 1984, Twin Image released their only album, “Mirror” on Capitol\EMI Records. It’s unknown how or if the album ever charted. 

The first single from the album “Kiss and Make it Better” didn’t appear to make the charts at all. babylovesmeThe follow-up single “My Baby Loves Me (Do Do)” peaked at #84 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for only 4 weeks.

After that, it seemed as if Twin Image had faded into obscurity.

Warren Shadd

Warren Shadd was a male R&B\funk singer from the 80’s. Not much information is given about him, but he released one single.

In 1981, Warren released the single, “Pretty Girl, Baby Girl” on Prism Records. It’s unknown how or if the single ever charted. After that, it seemed as if Warren had faded into obscurity.
