Theresa

Theresa was a Sacramento, California duo from the 80’s whose members consisted of Theresa King and Victor Porter. They were signed to Jay King (of Club Nouveau fame)’s record label, King Jay Records. In 1987, the duo released their debut album “Broken Puzzle” which peaked at #62 on Billboard’s R&B albums chart. The album was produced by Jay King, Thomas McElroy and Denzil Foster. Their first single “Last Time” peaked at #18 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 17 weeks, making it their only highest chart appearance on the R&B charts. The second single “Sweet Memories” peaked at #51 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 13 weeks.

The last single released from the album “What Cha Gonna Do” peaked at #66 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks

After that, it seemed as if Theresa had faded into obscurity. It’s unknown what Theresa and Victor are up to these days.

lanaLana As Covergirl was a female R&B musician from the late 80’s. Not much information is given about her, but she was signed to Space Station Records.

In 1987, Lana released the single, “Stay With Me”. It’s unknown how or if the single ever made any music charts.
im a winnerHer follow-up single “I’m a Winner” failed to chart and after that, it seemed as if Lana As Covergirl faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from these days.

Tanganyika

Tanganyika (born Tanganyika Frederick) is a former hip-hop music rapper who was a part of the “Roxanne Wars”, which was a series of hip-hop rivalries during the mid-’80s.
In 1985, she released her debut single, “I’m Little Roxanne” on the A-Side Records label when she was only 7 years old. Even though the song didn’t make the charts, it received airplay on the radio and the music video received airplay on the music television program, “Video Music Box.”

Tanganyika performed all over the country at the Apollo Theater, Sylvia’s Restaurant, the SCLC Leadership conference and other performances given upon request.

During that same year, she released her follow-up single, “The Name Game” (a cover version of Shirley Ellis’s 1965 song)\”She’s Got The Beat” which didn’t chart at all.


In 1987, Tanganyika released her only studio album, “Just Me.” At an unknown point in time, she released the single, “Tanganyika’s Back.” In later years, she acted in various films, commercials, sitcoms and off-Broadway stage productions.

After graduating from high school, she attended the Los Angeles Film School. She later began working as a screenwriter and director for film, television and music videos.

These days (according to research), Tanganyika is the founder and software engineer of Regal Unicorn Software. She is also the CEO of a children’s entertainment company called Urban Rascals and ran her own marketing company called Higher Ground Marketing Concepts.

Constina

constinaConstina (born in Minneapolis, Minnesota) was a female R&B singer from the late 80’s. Not much information is given about her, but she was signed to Columbia Records. In 1989, she released her self-titled debut album. It’s unknown how or if the album ever made the Billboard charts.Her first single, “Are You Lonely Tonight” peaked at #57 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks.The follow-up single from the album “Falling Like Rain” didn’t appear to make any impact on the Billboard charts at all.

After that, it seemed as if Constina had faded into obscurity, but according to the “Isle of Deserted Pop Stars” blog, she still resides in Minneapolis and has new projects in the works for both television & music.

Not much information is given about them, but they were signed to the Impact Management record labelIn 1997, they released their one and only single, “Jiggy” which managed to peak at #21 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart.After that, it seems as if they’ve faded into obscurity. It’s unknown what they’re up to these days.
