3rd Faze

3rd faze group3rd Faze was a female girl group from Orlando, Florida that consisted of Halie Clark, Minia Corominas and Sara Marie Rausch. Their name stood for the three phases in life (which would be the past, present & future).

The group was formed when Healthsouth CEO Richard Scrushy decided to put together an all-female band to perform on the “Go For It!” Roadshow which was an educational tour that promoted healthy lifestyles for teenagers.
3rd faze3rd Faze was signed to Edeltone Records and in September of 2001, they released their only self-titled debut album. The album failed to make any impact on the charts and it also received negative reviews from critics.

The only single released from the album was the song “Shy” and even though a music video was made for it, it flopped just like the album did.

In 2002, 3rd Faze was signed to Columbia Records after Sony Records CEO Tommy Mottola was given 250,000 shares in HealthSouth stock options by the company’s board of directors. During that same year, Richard Scrushy assigned former actor Jason Hervey (who was HealthSouth’s Vice-President for Marketing and Communications) to managed the group.

In the summer of 2002, 3rd Faze opened up for boy band O-Town and Britney Spears. They recorded four songs for Columbia Records, but after Tommy Mottola resigned from Sony Records & a massive accounting scandal at HealthSouth, 3rd Faze’s record deal was cancelled and by March of 2003, the group had disbanded.

These days, Minia Corominas is working as a makeup artist in Jacksonville, Florida. Halie Clark worked various jobs such as a personal trainer & an event coordinator. Currently, it appears as if she works in retail. It’s unknown what Sara Marie Rauch is up to these days.

Canela

canela
Canela (born Canela Cox in 1984 in Los Angeles, California) is a female R&B singer-songwriter from the 2000s.

Her mother was a backup singer who toured with Diana Ross. Canela was raised in the San Fernando Valley by her grandmother, but when she was 14 years old, her mother got married and she moved to Holland.

While living in Holland, Canela began working as a dancer and a backup singer for her mother and took studio session gigs with local Dutch musicians. When she was 18 years old, she moved back to Los Angeles to pursue a professional singing career.

In 2000, she was featured on Jennifer Lopez’s hit song “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and even though she was uncredited on the song, Canela performed as a backup singer for J-Lo on her tours.

While performing with J-Lo, Canela was discovered by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins who brought her to Dreamworks Records and she was signed to the label in 2001.

In early 2001, she began recording her self-titled debut album and it was announced that it would be released in December of 2001.
sponsorCanela’s song “Sponsor” was released to radio as a buzz single while she was recording her album. Along with the single release, a remix featuring DJ Clue & Fabolous was released to mixtape circuits which received heavy underground play, but it failed to make any charts at all.
canela everythingHer follow-up single “Everything” was released as the official lead single from her debut album. Even though a music video was made for the song and it received some airplay on the BET network show “106 & Park,” it failed to chart just like her previous single.
canela albumDue to the single not charting, DreamWorks Records put Canela’s debut album on hold and by December of 2001, Dreamworks Records folded after being bought out by Universal Music Group which caused her album to be shelved, but advanced promotional CD’s appear to have been released.

After that, Canela co-wrote singer Anastasia’s 2002 single “Why’d You Lie to Me” and in 2004, she was featured on rapper Won G’s single “Caught Up in the Rapture.”
blazed bedrockDuring 2004, Canela was signed to Genuine Entertaiment (in conjunction with Monopoly Records) and she began recording another album. The buzz singles from the album “Blazed” & “Bedrock” flopped and due to lack of promotion, she left Monopoly Records.

After leaving Monopoly Records, Canela began songwriting & singing for other artists such as Swedish female singer Agnes’ 2005 self-titled album.

In 2005, she was featured as a background vocalist on the soundtrack to the film “Coach Carter” and was also featured on female rapper Ak’Sent’s song “Pick Up” which received moderate success online.

Canela would later provide vocals for Disney Channel soundtracks such as “Jump In,” “High School Musical 2,” “The Proud Family” and “The Cheetah Girls 2.”

In 2006, she joined a pop band called Anything but Monday, but according to research, it appears as if Canela is no longer with the band since they have a new line-up.

In 2007, Canela rejoined her former label, Monopoly Records and began working on her new album again, later releasing the singles “I’ll C U Later,” “I Want U for Me” and “Kiss & Tell.”

These days, according to research, Canela was still recording her album, songwriting and performing demo tracks for other artists, but it’s unknown whether or not her album will be released anytime soon.

There was speculation about his sudden decision to drop out the show, but Mario appeared on “Good Day New York” and explained the reason he left “American Idol” because he wanted more artistic control and that he felt more restricted staying on the show. He was replaced on the show by contestant Nikko Smith.

In August of 2005, Mario signed a record deal with J Records\Arista Records.

Prima J

prima j
Prima J is a pop music duo from the 2000s that consisted of cousins Jessica (born on May 25, 1988) and Janelle (born on August 26, 1988) from Rosemead, California. The duo came up with their stagename by taking the letter “J” out of their first names and the Spanish word “prima” (which means female cousin).

The girls first began performing at a young age, making up their own cheerleading & dance numbers during the half-time of weekly Dallas Cowboys football games in front of their families.

As they got older, Janelle and Jessica showcased their singing and dancing skills at carnivals, talent shows, fairs, dance competitions and cheerleading. Their career began when Jessica stumbled upon talent manager Bruce Johnson listening to a song that she wrote & recorded.

In April of 2006, the girls were referred by another talent manager, Jorge Hernandez to Stefanie Ridel (a former member of girl group Wild Orchid). Impressed with their talent, Stefanie brought Jessica and Janelle to A&R executive Ron Fair and they later signed with Geffen Records.
jump inIn 2007, Prima J made their musical debut on the soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Movie “Jump In!” with the track “Gotta Lotta.”

In April of 2008, Prima J starred in the Mun2 cable network reality TV show “Prima J: Inside Out” which showed the girls in their journey towards stardom.

They also appeared in Baby Bash’s music video for his song “What It Is”, performed at the 19th AT&T Fiesta Broadway in Los Angeles, California and at the KIIS FM’s Wango Tango festival. A Spanish-language cover version of Alicia Keys’ song “No One” called “Nadie (No One)” was released a single and a music video was released as well, but it’s unknown how or if it made any music charts at all.

In September of 2009, Prima J. appeared in the direct-to-DVD film “Bring it On: Fight to the Finish” and was featured on the soundtrack with the track as well. After that, nothing much was heard from the girls and it seemed as if they faded into obscurity.
