The Gablz

The Gablz were an R&B trio from Los Angeles, California that consisted of members George Alston, Willie Cotton and Samuel Johnson.

Not much information is given about them, but they were signed to Warner Bros. Records. In 1997, they released their self-titled debut album. It’s unknown how or if the album ever charted.

Their only single “Shookie Shookie (Gimme Some Of Your Sweet Cookie)” managed to peak at #94 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 4 weeks.

After that, it seemed as if the Gablz have faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since.

skillz

Skillz were a short-lived female R&B group from the 90’s that came and went as soon as they arrived on the music scene. The members consisted of Kim Jefferson, Dena Bacon, Charlotte Hardnett, Renita Maiden, and Dena Hardeman.

In 1995, they released their debut album “Promises” on Raging Bull Records. It’s unknown how or if the album ever charted.

In November of that same year, their only single, “Just Fa My Man” peaked at #69 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.

After that, it seemed as if Skillz had faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since.

Sweet Daddy Ceville was a male hip-hop rapper from the 80’s. Not much information is given about him, but he was signed to MF Records.

In 1988, he released the single, “Partners In Crime / Let The Sports Begin.” It is unknown how or if the single ever charted. After that, it seemed as if Sweet Daddy Ceville has faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from him since.

Trixxx

Trixxx was a dance-pop duo from the 80’s that consisted of members Jepthe Guillaume and Richard McCamery. Jepthe was born in Haiti and lived in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1985, they released the single, “Remember” on SuperTronics Records. Jepthe co-wrote the song and he & Richard co-produced the single. Dance/R&B singer, Jocelyn Brown provided background vocals for the song. It is unknown how or if the single ever made the charts.

Trixx’s last single, “Chill” didn’t appear to make any impact on the charts. After that, nothing much was heard from the trio and it appeared as if they faded into obscurity.

Jepthe Guillaume continues to have an active music career. Richard McCamery wrote and produced music for various artists, but it is unknown what he is up to now.

The Sundance Kids were a hip-hop music act from the 80’s. Not much information is given about them, but they were signed to Panoramic Records.

In 1986, they released the single, “Crack it Up/Free Basing.” It is unknown how or if the single ever charted. After that, they faded straight into obscurity.

Darcy Alonso was a female freestyle/dance singer from the late 80’s. Not much information is given about her, but she released two singles before fading into obscurity. In 1988, she released the single, “Love Grows Stronger” on Select Records. It is unknown how or if the single ever charted.

In 1989, Darcy released her second single, “Waited So Long” on Active Records. Once again, the single didn’t appear to chart at all. After that, it seems as if Darcy Alonso has faded into obscurity.

Tammy Lucas (from Harlem, New York) is an dance and R&B music singer from the ’80s and ’90s.

As a toddler, Tammy listened to her father playing the drums, and her mother playing records and the radio. By the time she was 8 years old, she was noticed by the director of the children’s church choir.

When she was 13 years old, she began attending The Harlem School of the Arts where she studied piano, music theory and voice. She was also a member of the school choir. At the age of 15, she became a regular performer in clubs in Manhattan such as The Paradise Garage and Better Days.
After completing high school, Tammy wrote and released her debut single, “Hey Boy” on the Supersonics record label. The song peaked at #18 on Billboard’s Hot Dance\Disco Club Play chart, staying on the chart for 11 weeks.

In 1988, she began writing songs with producer Teddy Riley for artists such as Stephanie Mills, Guy, The Winans, Nayobe, Starpoint and Pretty in Pink. She also provided vocals for Starpoint, Guy, Heavy D. & The Boyz and Wreckz-N-Effect.
In 1992, Tammy was featured on the soundtrack to the film, “Juice” on Teddy Riley’s song, “Is It Good To You” which peaked at #50 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.

In later years, Tammy continued to perform vocals for various artists. These days (according to research), she works as a freelance songwriting coach.

Me’Lady

Me’Lady was a freestyle/dance singer from the 80’s. Not much information is given, but she was signed to Tuxedo Music LTD Records.

In 1987, she released the single, “All in Time.” It’s unknown how or if the single ever charted. After that, it seems as if Me’Lady has faded into obscurity.

Ileen Kristen (not to be confused with the actress Ilene Kristen) was an R&B singer from the ’80s. Not much information is given about her, but she was signed to Tuxedo Music Ltd. Records.

In 1984, she released the single “Give Away.” It’s unknown how or if the song ever charted. After that, it seems as if Illeen Kristen has faded into obscurity.

D’LaVance (born Darren LaVance Sullivan in Los Angeles, California) was an R&B singer from the mid-’80s/early ’90s.

Not much information is given about him, but he produced music for artists such as Lateasha, the Jets, Klymaxx, Bernadette Cooper, Body, Troy Hinton, Angela Winbush, J.T. Taylor and Art Madison. beenwaitingforkiss

In the mid-’80s, D’LaVance released two singles “I Been Waiting For a Kiss” (in 1984) and “Beat Around the Bush” (in 1985) on Tuckwood Records. He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
