Scarlet

Scarlet were an English pop duo from the ’90s that consisted of singer\guitarist Cheryl Parker and singer\pianist\keyboardist Jo Youle. Originally, they were a trio with singer\flautist Joanna Fox.

Cheryl, Jo & Joanna first met each other at secondary school. In the late ’80s, they began playing together locally around Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England under the name “Cheap Day Return” along with bass player Ed Clark.
In 1991, the girls moved to London, England where they signed a publishing deal with Chrysalis Music. A year later, they signed a record deal with independent label, Haven Records where they released two singles: “Piccadilly in the Rain (I’ll Be There)” and “Shine on Me Now” which didn’t make the charts at all.
In 1993, they signed a record deal with WEA and began recording their debut album. In 1994, they released the lead single, “I Really Like the Idea” which didn’t chart. After that, Joanna left the trio, leaving Jo and Cheryl to carry on as a duo.
In late 1994, Scarlet released their next single, “Independent Love Song” which peaked at #12 on the UK Singles chart in January of 1995, making it their highest charting single to date. The success of the single earned them a guest spot on the BBC’s “A Song for Europe 1995” contest.
In February of 1995, they released their debut album, “Naked” which peaked at #59 on the UK Albums chart.

The third single from the album, “I Wanna Be Free (To Be with Him)” peaked at #21 on the UK Singles chart. The last single, “Love Hangover” peaked at #54 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1996, Scarlet released the single, “Bad Girl” which peaked at #54 on the UK Singles chart, making it their last charting single to date.
During that same year, they released their sophomore album, “Chemistry” which failed to chart at all. After that, WEA Records dropped Scarlet from their label and the duo disbanded.

These days (according to research), Jo Youle is the chief executive of the UK charity, Missing People. It’s unknown what Cheryl Parker and Joanna Fox are currently up to these days.

Lynden David Hall (born on May 7, 1974 in Wandsworth, South London, England) was an English R&B singer-songwriter from the late ’90s.

As a teenager, Lynden first discovered classic soul music after he was expelled from school for fighting and was sent to live with his father, who collected records. He later taught himself how to play the guitar and writing his own songs.

When he was 16 years old, he attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts in Croydon and recorded his first demo sessions while attending the school.Through manager Tony Hall, Lynden’s demos landed on the desk of BBC Radio 1 DJ Trevor Nelson, who signed him to the Cooltempo record label.
In November of 1997, he released his debut album, “Medicine 4 My Pain” which peaked at #166 on the UK Albums chart.
The lead single from the album, “Sexy Cinderella” peaked at #45 on the U.K. Singles chart, becoming his first charting single.

The follow-up single, “Do I Qualify” peaked at #26 on the UK Singles charts. The third single from the album, “Crescent Moon” was moderately successful, peaking at #45 on the UK Singles chart.

A remixed version of “Sexy Cinderella” titled the C&J Remix peaked at #17 on the UK Singles chart, making it Lynden’s highest charting single to date.
The title song (which was released as the final single) failed to make the charts at all. In 1998, Lynden won the “Best Newcomer” award at the 1998 MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards and was named “Best New Artist” by Blues & Soul magazine.
In 2000, Lynden released his sophomore album, “The Other Side” peaked at #36 on the UK Albums chart.
The lead single, “Forgive Me” peaked at #30 on the UK Singles chart, making it the highest charting single from the album.
The follow-up singles: “Sleeping With Victor” (which peaked at #49) and “Let’s Do It Again” (which peaked at #69) were moderately successful on the UK Singles chart.

Lynden’s record contract with Cooltempo Records was later terminated due to EMI Records reshuffling its roster. In 2003, he appeared in the 2003 film, “Love Actually” as a wedding singer. During that same year, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Two years later in April of 2005, he released his third and final studio album, “In Between Jobs” on the independent record label, Random. The only single released from the album, “Day Off”/ “Stay Faithful” did not make the charts.

Sadly on February 14, 2006, Lynden died at the age of 31 due to complications from a stem cell transplant that received in January of 2005. At the time of his death, he was in remission.

Shortly before Lynden’s death, he and his wife, Nikkie put together a concert called Lynden’s Wish at London’s Jazz Cafe. In May of 2006, a Lynden’s Wish memorial celebration was held in his honor at Kensington Roof Gardens and all the proceeds were donated to the African Carribean Leukaemia Trust.

Claudia Church

Claudia Church (born on January 12, 1962 in Lenoir, North Carolina) is a country music singer from the late ’90s\2000s.

Claudia’s father was a member of the U.S. Army and she lived in various places such as Japan, North Carolina, Utah and Colorado. She had dreams of becoming a country music singer from the age of five after listening to the Grand Ole Opry radio show from the car radios in the junkyard owned by her grandfather in North Carolina.

Claudia began singing in local church choirs and even performed at the Louisiana Hayride; however, her music career didn’t quite pan out at first, so she decided to pursue modeling and made her acting debut in the CBS network drama series, “Dallas.”

In 1988, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her dream as a singer and continued to model in order to pay the bills for recording sessions. She also appeared in music videos for artists such as Steve Wariner, Ricky Van Shelton and Rodney Crowell, whom she met in 1992 on the set of his music video for his song, “Lovin’ All Night.”
In September of 1998, Claudia and Rodney got married. Around that time, she attracted the attention of Jim Ed Norman of Warner Bros. Nashville and was signed to a record deal with Warner Bros.\Reprise Records. In 1999, she released her self-titled debut album which didn’t appear to make the album charts at all.
The lead single from the album, “What’s the Matter with You Baby” which peaked at #41 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks.
The follow-up single, “Home in My Heart (North Carolina)” peaked at #63 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, staying on the chart for 3 weeks. The last single, “It’s All Your Fault” failed to chart at all.

While signed to Warner Bros\Reprise Records, Claudia performed around the globe including various USO shows around Bosnia-Herzegovina.

After her music career came to an end, she resumed her acting career and moved to Los Angeles, California to study with acting coach Ivana Chubbuck. Since then, she has appeared in various films and television shows. In 2020, she starred in the film, “Acquitted by Faith.”

According to research, Claudia currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee where she is still married to Rodney Crowell, is a step-mother and also dabbles in newborn photography & baking.
