The Beck Family was an R&B group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that consisted of Anthony, Mendy, Tyrone & Joanna Beck, and cousins Nick Mundy & Donald Wilson.
In 1976, they released their debut single “Dancing” on the Art record label; it’s unknown how or if the single charted at all.
In 1979, the Beck Family released their debut and only album “Dancin’ on the Ceiling” on the Lejoint Records label. It’s unknown how or if the album charted at all.
Their only charting single, “Can’t Shake the Feeling” which peaked at #43 on Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart, staying on the chart for nine weeks.
The follow-up single from the album, “Falling In Love Again/Can You Feel It” didn’t make the charts at all. After that, it seems as if the Beck Family faded into obscurity.
Nick Mundy went on to have a successful career as a producer, songwriter & session musician, working with artists such as Chico DeBarge, Cerrone, LaToya Jackson, Kashif, Sheena Easton, Alexander O’Neal, Color Me Badd, Jeremy Jordan and Tony Terry. In 1987, he released a solo album “Your Kinda Guy” on Warner Bros. Records.
It’s unknown what the other members of the Beck Family are up to these days.
